ABC Orders Pilot from Ellen DeGeneres

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ABC network has ordered a pilot from comedian Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi to be called THE SMART ONE.

The half-hour comedy will star De Rossi as a bright and successful woman who is forced to work for her dim-witted sister, a former beauty contest winner and weather girl who somehow becomes mayor of a major metropolis.

The project will be written by Don Todd. It is the second pilot that DeGeneres has in develpement. Recently, Warner Brothers TV announced it had picked up a pilot that DeGeneres and Lauren Corrao will executive produce.
