DANCING WITH THE STARS, ABC, TCA
According to TV Guide, at today's TCA winter press tour, ABC President Paul Lee confirmed that DANCING WITH THE STARS won't be going anywhere any time soon.
"We're still intending to go twice a year," Lee said at the ABC panel this afternoon. "It's a big, broad crowd-pleaser."
Afterwards, Lee spoke with reporters, emphasizing that the key to ratings is casting.
"People love to see the journey as much as they like to see the competition," he said. "We can all remember many [seasons] of DANCING where you've had people surprise you. You never thought they could [win]. You've had people lose weight and suddenly turn out to be the fittest people. That's something that we've done very, very well... and we'll be able to do that just by going back to our normal way of casting."
In other words, the network will probably skip a second ALL STARS foray.
Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars marked the first time prior contestants returned for another shot at the coveted mirror ball trophy for a very special All-Star season. From former champions to fan favorites, the stars were paired with some of the world's most decorated professional ballroom dancers.
As of now, no details on DANCING's first 2013 season have been announced.
