ABC has announced that they have picked up the rights to Jason Mott's soon-to-be published novel THE RETURNED, with Brad Pitt's Plan B and Brillstein Entertainment.
THE RETURNED follows a family whose son is brought back to life during a worldwide event in which loved ones return from their graves. THE KILLING's Aaron Zelman is set to write the script.
Plan B and Brillstein snagged the rights for ABC after a long bidding-war between various networks and production companies. No word yet on if THE RETURNED will premiere next fall or sometime after.
Zelman will also serve as executive producer with JoAnn Alfano, Jon Liebman, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner.
THE RETURNED, Mott's debut novel, will be published next September by Mira Books.
