Is America soon to see the last of Diane Sawyer's trusting face on their TV's each weeknight? According to ETonline, a report in today's NY Daily News says the anchorwoman may be considering plans to retire as early as this year.
However Jeffrey Schneider, SVP of ABC News said in a statement that the story is incorrect. "That is not true," Schneider told ET, and added, "And had the Daily News actually asked us if Diane was considering retiring we would have told them yesterday that it wasn't true."
The Daily News report had quoted "a source close to Sawyer" that revealed the 67-year-old news woman had "discussed with a few close friends and some people at ABC that she is seriously considering retiring," possibly sometime in 2013.
The report went on to confirm that while Sawyer "loves work and what she does and has endless energy," she also had been "overwhelmed with personal problems and was thinking about leaving to take care of her family."
