ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA Continues to Grow Year to Year

ABC's "Good Morning America" finished as the No. 1 morning program in both Total Viewers (5.194 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.972 million) for the week of December 17, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" led NBC's "Today" (4.676 million and 1.907 million) by +518,000 overall viewers and by +65,000 Adults 25-54, ranking No. 1 in all 12 weeks this season in overall viewers and in 11 of 12 weeks in the key adult news demo. Additionally, "GMA" increased week to week by +4% in Adults 25-54 and +2% in Total Viewers.

Compared to the year-ago week (w/o 12/19/11 - 4.644 million and 1.811 million, respectively) "GMA" grew in +12% in Total Viewers and +9% in Adults 25-54. In fact, the ABC morning newscast has seen increases over the same week last year in 12 of 12 weeks this season in Total Viewers, and in 11 of 12 weeks in Adults 25-54. Further, "GMA" grew while the "Today Show" declined by double digits, -12% among Total Viewers and -19% among Adults 25-54, and "CBS This Morning" grew (+15% in Total Viewers and +2% in Adults 25-54).

Season to date "GMA" is the No. 1 morning news program in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. In fact "GMA" is leading "Today" by its largest season margin overall in viewers (+518,000) in more than 21 years and in the adult news demo (+99,000) in 21 years - since at least the 1991-92 season and the 1991-92 season, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Season to date "GMA" is up in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) vs. its year-ago averages, growing the most year to year in viewers and standing as the only morning newscast to grow in the key adult news demo ("Today" is down -16%/-23%, respectively; "This Morning" is mixed +3%/-4%, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 7 years and best Adult 25-54 performance in 4 years - since the 2005-06 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.
