AMC Networks announced today it is promoting Jennifer Caserta to the role of IFC president and general manager, effective immediately. She was previously executive vice president and general manager. She is based in the company's headquarters in New York City and reports to AMC Networks' Chief Operating Officer, Ed Carroll.
The promotion comes on the heels of the success of IFC's hit show Portlandia, which recently won a Peabody Award and delivered 13.5 million total viewers in its second season, up +150% over season one*.
Carroll stated: "Jen has been a tremendous asset to the network, leading IFC's successful rebrand and its transition last year to an ad supported model, and implementing an original programming strategy that's resonating with viewers. IFC's distinct brand and focus on original, off-kilter comedies has positioned it extremely well among viewers, advertisers and affiliates. Jen is a terrific leader and a savvy executive and I'm very pleased to recognize her many accomplishments with this well-deserved promotion."
As President, Caserta will continue to oversee all aspects of the network in an effort to drive viewership and grow revenue, including original programming, acquisitions, scheduling, marketing, digital media and new business opportunities.
Over the past year, Caserta was named a "Who's Next" leader by Fast Company, a "Person of the Moment," by Ad Week, and was the recipient of the NCTA's 2011 Vanguard Award for Young Leadership. In 2010 she was named a "Wonder Woman" by Multichannel News and WICT.
Caserta was named executive vice president and general manager of IFC in 2008. During her tenure, she spearheaded IFC's 2010 rebrand embodied by the tagline "Always On. Slightly Off." to reflect the evolution of the network's original programming strategy; she implemented the network's transition from a sponsorship model to an ad-supported network; and she greenlit original comedies The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, Onion News Network, and the docu-comedy, Whisker Wars, as well as the upcoming original series Comedy Bang! Bang! and Bunk, premiering June 8.
