NBC has announced that comedians Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong will join the cast of Saturday Night Live when the show returns for its 38th season. SNL cast members Kristen Wiig, Abby Elliot and Andy Samberg announced in recent months that they would be departing from the show.

After graduating with a theater degree, Aidy Bryant hit Chicago's  theater circuit appearing with improv and sketch groups at iO, Annoyance and the e.t.c. stage of Second City. Bryant's last performance with Second City was at the end of August.

Tim Robinson was among the names on the "30 Comedians Under 30 to Watch" list in 2011. His career track took him from Second City Detroit to the national Second City Touring Company, and eventually to Chicago's Second City Mainstage. A member of Cook County Social Club, Robinson also made two-man sketch videos that also was a live show for Just For Laughs Chicago, and it begat a 2011 pilot for Comedy Central.

Cecily Strong comes from the national touring company of the Second City improvisational theater in Chicago, and has also been an understudy for its main stage and E.T.C. stage.

Seth MacFarlane will host the 38th season premiere on Saturday, September 15, 2012, with musical guest Frank Ocean.
