CBS's EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY Adds 1M Viewers Over Last Year

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added more than a million viewers (+1.09m) compared to the same week last year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Dec. 28. Additionally, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY closed the viewer deficit with ABC by more than 750,000 viewers (from -1.80m to -1.02m) compared to the same week last year.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY also posted significant year-to-year ratings gains this week among households (4.8/09 from 4.0/08, +20%), viewers (7.25m from 6.16m, +18%) and adults 25-54 (1.6/05 from 1.5/05, +7%).

In fourth quarter 2012 (most current), the CBS EVENING NEWS (4.5/08, 6.58m) posted its best fourth quarter household rating since 2007 and its best viewer delivery since 2006. The CBS broadcast is in its best competitive position with both NBC and ABC in a fourth quarter since 2006.

Ratings for the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY for the week ending Dec. 28 represent a three-day average (Wednesday-Friday). The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY was broadcast as a "special" on Monday and Tuesday due to the Christmas holiday. The year-ago comparisons represent a four-day average.
