TNT's successful reboot of the classic nighttime soap DALLAS has been given the greenlight for a third season according to series star Patrick Duffy in a new interview.

While series standout Larry Hagman passed away last year while filming had just begun on the second season of the Cynthia Cidre-created reboot, the series has managed to endure without J.R. Ewing after all - although, of course, the primary plot of the current season has been centered upon the theme of "Who Shot J.R.?" in a reprise of the memorable ratings watershed from the heyday of the series in the early 1980s.

Duffy says, "A network like TNT and Warner Brothers look at the trend... They are ecstatic with what DALLAS is doing and as long as we continue that in the demographics of 18-40, we are their golden child."

The TNT reboot of DALLAS commanded over 3.5 million for the send-off to Hagman last month and has retained the majority of that audience for most of Season Two so far, remaining a top-rated show for the cable channel as it heads torwards its S2 2-hour finale next Monday night.

Having recently wrapped the hastily-rewritten S2, as necessitated by Hagman's untimely death, Duffy relates that S3 may very likely air in Summer 2014, giving the cast and crew - which also includes returning series star Linda Gray in addition to new players Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Brenda Strong and Julie Gonzalo - some well-earned hiatus time off.

Duffy states, "The summer is the perfect time on cable television because none of the other networks are premiering anything."
