FOX Cancels Katie Finneran's I Hate My Teenage Daughter

FOX's I Hate My Teenage Daughter, starring Katie Finneran, has been canceled, Entertainment Weekly reports. The comedy will play its final episode of the season on Tuesday, April 3. A recent episode of the show only garnered 3.6 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults aged 18-49. FOX may air the remaining episodes over the summer.

According to the television show's website, HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER is a new multi-camera family comedy starring Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran as single moms, best friends - and former nerds - who fear their privileged and overly indulged daughters are turning out just like the mean girls who picked on them in high school.

ANNIE (Pressly), who was raised in an ultra-strict, über-religious household where she had little-to-no freedom, pretty much allows her daughter, SOPHIE (Kristi Lauren), to do whatever she wants. Annie's best friend NIKKI (Finneran), once an unpopular, overweight social pariah, is now a pretty Southern belle who also allows her daughter, MACKENZIE (Aisha Dee), to do as she pleases.

Finneran recently appeared on Broadway in the revival of Promises, Promises opposite Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes. Other stage credits include Broadway productions of Noises Off, The Iceman Cometh, Cabaret, The Heiress and My Favorite Year, as well as Off-Broadway's Love Loss and What I Wore, An Oak Tree, Pig Farm, Arms and the Man, Bosoms and Neglect, You Can Never Tell, Li'l Abner, A Fair Country and Edith Stein. She won Tony Awards for her roles in Promises, Promises and Noises Off. Finneran also starred in the recent New York Philharmonic presentation of Sondheim's Company next to Neil Patrick Harris, Aaron Lazer and Patti LuPone.
