According to Broadcastingcable.com, the FOX network plans to split its successful cable channel FX into two networks in order to spread it's cable network presense. According to media executives, a new network, tentatively called FXX, would focus on younger viewing audiences with a slant towards comedy.
According to the report, programs such as riginal comedy series The League and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia would be broadcast on the new network. It would also air theatrical movies from FX's extensive inventory. The new network would launch in September with about 75 million subscribers. Many of those subscribers would come from the FOX Soccer channel. FX would continue to broadcast its more "edgier" drama series such as Sons of Anarchy and Justified that attract young adults and baby boomers. Headed by John Landgraf, the FX network will continue to produce the movie channel FXM.A FOX spokesman declined to comment on details of the report but confirmed that the company is "examining its programming options."
