GLEE Approaches 500th Musical Performance

After four seasons and many, many milestones, Glee is prepping to hit another major mark in its history.

Fox's musical comedy is set to air its 500th musical performance this season - perhaps a little sooner than expected.

The folks over at Carter.com predict that the milestone performance might air during Will Schuester and Emma Pillsbury's wedding in March. As of now, no details on what the 500th song might be have been released.

Darren Criss corroborated the big news, tweeting this week: @DarrenCriss "I get to shoot two great songs today-the 1st is from one of my favorite movies, and the 2nd will be our 500th musical number on Glee. 500th!"

He later went on to post: "The episode we're shooting right now is a shining example of what 'movie magic' really is. I've been in awe all week. Can't wait til it airs"

Glee is a musical comedy about a group of eager and ambitious students who strive to outshine their singing competition to win Nationals while navigating the cruel halls of McKinley High. Since its debut,Gleehas become a bona fide cultural phenomenon, received prestigious honors including the Golden Globe and Peabody Award and singlehandedly made Glee clubs cool again.

In addition to the regular cast, Glee has featured guest appearances by a wide range of talented performers, including Gwyneth Paltrow (who won the 2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series), Carol Burnett, Kathy Griffin, Cheyenne Jackson, John Stamos, Britney Spears, Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Molly Shannon, Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris, who won a 2010 Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
