GRIMM Returns to NBC with 5 Million Viewers

At 9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) ranked as the #1 drama of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in 18-49, decisively out-rating head to head CBS's "Golden Boy" (1.0/3) and Fox's "Touch" (0.7/2). In the time period, "Grimm" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49 and was the hour's #1 scripted program among those networks in all key demographics.
"Grimm" is up 7 percent versus the 1.4 for last year's mid-season returning episode, which aired in mid January after a much shorter four-week break (1.4/4 from 9-10 p.m. ET on January 13, 2012). In total viewers, "Grimm" is also up by 7 percent versus that year-ago returning telecast (4.965 million vs. 4.649). Coming nearly four months after its prior original, last night's "Grimm" finished within a tenth of a point of the 1.6 for its fall finale on November 16, 2012.

Note that so far this season, "Grimm" originals have been growing by 73 percent over these next-day "live plus same day" numbers in 18-49 when Nielsen adds additional time-shifting viewership in "live plus seven day" results (to a 2.86 rating from a 1.65).

At 8 p.m. ET, the season-two debut of "Fashion Star" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall) generated half-hour to half-hour growth in women 18-49 (to a 1.1 rating from a 1.0) and women 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.4).

Note that last year's "Fashion Star" debut came on a Tuesday night, March 13, from 9:30 to 11 p.m., with a 2.3 lead-in from the prior half-hour for "The Biggest Loser."

From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with Br Ian Williams" reported a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall. "Rock Center" finished within a tenth of a point of its 1.0 in 25-54 for the prior two weeks, despite last night's shift from a news lead-in to a scripted lead-in. Versus its total-viewer average on Thursday nights earlier this season, "Rock Center" was up 6 percent last night (3.929 million vs. 3.697 million).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Friday night:

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.2/6 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.4/6 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.3/6.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.6/3 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.6/3 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.

* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore) tied CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/2).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
