TVLine.com reports that Gaius Charles has joined the cast of ABC's medical drama GREY'S ANATOMY. The actor will have a recurring role in the show's upcoming ninth season.
While full details of the actor's role have not been disclosed, he will reportedly play a young doctor at the show's Seattle Grace Hospital, which last season experienced the departure of two major staff members.
Charles' theater credits include Lower Ninth, Broke-Ology, and The Public Theater's 2009 production of Othello, opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Ortiz, and Jessica Chastain.
The actor is best known for his role as Brian "Smash" Williams on NBC's 'Friday Night Lights'. He was recently seen on TV on ABC's 'Pan-Am', and CBS's 'NCIS.' Last month, he began a major story arc in the USA Network series 'Necessary Roughness.'
