HBO Renews VEEP, GIRLS For Second Season

Deadline.com reports that HBO has given the green light for second seasons of its new comedy series VEEP and GIRLS. Both series have received a 10-episode order from the cable network.

VEEP, created by Armando Iannucci, stars Seinfeld alum Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as the fictional Vice President of the United States. The show has been drawing 1.4 million viewers in its debut. GIRLS was created by and stars Lena Dunham and takes a comical look at "humiliations and triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s." The show has aired three episodes and has garnered a less impressive 872,000 viewers.

In gross audience, the two series run neck and neck, 3.8 million for GIRLS and 3.7 million for VEEP, which debuted a week later.
