Ian Somerhalder Named 'Most Responsible Celebrity'

Based on the report, the “Vampire Diaries” actor received more than 50% of the public votes to win the Most Responsible Celebrity Award given by the InternationAl Green Awards. He beat the two other finalists Livia Firth and Nadya Hutagalung for it. The announcement was made on November 20 in Battersea Power Station in London. And on his acceptance video, the actor thanked all his supporters and encouraged businesses and the people to be responsible and proactive in helping the planet.

As a green celebrity, Somerhalder is most known for his passion on renewable energy. Besides that, founding his Ian Somerhalder Foundation back in 2010 was also one of his notable green works. The foundation supports sustainable energy programs, shares awareness about deforestation and also engages the young people in environmental concerns.

However, Hub on Wheels stated that helping the planet is not just the responsibility of green celebrities. As it said, it is everybody's work. And so, it urged the public to follow the steps of Somerhalder and go green as well.
