Jeremy Jordan & Jonathan Groff Sing SMASH Duet

SMASH S2 featured player Jeremy Jordan and Glee guest star Jonathan Groff don blond wigs and amp up the drama while duetting on the tremendous SMASH pilot finale showstopper "Let Me Be Your Star" in a new clip just released from a live charity performance earlier this week at MCC's MISCAST gala.

Jordan recounts prior to the spectacular duet, "This song has always sort of hit me close to home and I'm sure a lot of actors in the crowd can sort of relate that there is that one person that always sort of gets that role that you always wanted and they are always at every audition and you can never quite make it past them."

Then, Jordan adds with a sigh and a laugh, "I have that one person - I don't want to name any names," before uttering "Jonathan Groff" with a stage cough as the audience audibly reacts overwhelmingly favorably, anticipating what is about to occur onstage.

"This song is sort of like that redeeming 'I Want' type of song - I love this song so much," he says in reference to Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's immensely moving "Let Me Be Your Star" before launching into the first verse of the vocal stunner - soon thereafter followed by Groff voicing the Ivy track of the titanic diva duet.

Jeremy Jordan starred on Broadway in both BONNIE & CLYDE and NEWSIES last season, receiving a Tony Award nomination for his role in the latter.

Jonathan Groff has appeared on Broadway perhaps most famously in SPRING AWAKENING, opposite Glee co-star Lea Michele, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award.

SMASH airs Tuesdays at 10 PM on NBC.
