Deadline reports that John Corbett will head the cast of the NCIS: LA spin-off series RED. The series will be introduced on an upcoming episode of the CBS drama later this season. The actor joins previously announced cast members Edwin Hodge and Miguel Ferrer.
The project will center on "a mobile team of agents who are forced to live and work together as they crisscross the country solving crimes." Corbett will portray Analyst Roy Quaid, described as "a former NCIS Special Agent forced to retire from active service. While no longer an active agent, Roy is the most experienced investigator working for Red Team, a fact that's not lost on any of the other agents." Corbett is best known for playing Chris Stevens on Northern Exposure from 1990 to 1995 and Aidan, Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriend, on Sex and the City and reprised this role for the series movie sequel Sex and the City 2. He also played the leading male role opposite Nia Vardalos in Vardalos's hit film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). He starred in United States of Tara as Max Gregson, and has appeared on NBC dramedy Parenthood as Seth Holt.
