Mimi Rogers Joins Cast of ABC Drama Pilot SCRUPLES

Deadline.com reports that actress Mimi Rogers has joined the cast of ABC's upcoming drama pilot SCRUPLES based on the 1978 novel by Judith Krantz. Krantz' son Tony, who is a former CAA agent who now works as a successful producer and director will be behind the project along with actress Natalie Portman, who will act as executive producer. This will mark Portman's first time out as a series producer.

The project, directed by Michael Sucsy will follow the story of Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop, also known as Billy, who transforms herself from a heavy unattractive woman to a slender, beautiful bombshell. After Billy outlives her first wealthy husband she goes on to open a successful Beverly Hills clothing boutique called 'Scruples'.

Bob Brush and Mell Harris will pen the script which will be produced through Warner Brothers. The studio had previously developed a 'Scruples' miniseries back in 1980 which starred actress Lindsey Wagner.

According to the report, Rogers will portray Harriet Toppington, described as "the powerful and vindictive magazine editor whose blackballing of hotshot fashion photographer Spider Elliott (Chad Michael Murray) leads him to move from New York City to Beverly Hills and his new career at Scruples."

Rogers has recently been seen in a recurring role in the CBS comedy Two And A Half Men playing Ashton Kutcher's mom. Her other TV credits includes The X-Files, where she played the role of Agent Diana Fowley, and 1987's Someone to Watch Over Me. She also played Michelle Williams' mother in the TV series Dawson's Creek.
