Minnie Driver has officially signed on to star alongside David Walton in the pilot of NBC's upcoming adaptation of the 2002 film ABOUT A BOY.
Jason Katims, former FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS scribe and executive producer of PARENTHOOD, wrote the script that acclaimed actor/director Jon Favreau will direct the single-camera comedy.
The project follows the relationship between a womanizing bachelor and the boy who moves in next door with his mother (Driver.) Toni Collette originally played the role in the film.
Driver's screen credits include the upcoming The Simpsons Movie, The Phantom of the Opera, Beautiful, Return to Me, An Ideal Husband, The Governess, Good Will Hunting (for which she received an Oscar nomination), Gross Pointe Blank and Circle of Friends. She has been seen on TV in "Will & Grace," as Lorraine, and "The Riches."
Last season, Driver starred in NBC's pilot LADY FRIENDS, which was ultimately not picked up by the network.
