Deadline.com reports that NBC has picked up two more single-camera comedy series, 1600 PENN and ANIMAL PRACTICE. 1600 PENN, from 20th TV, was co-created and stars 'Book of Mormon's Tony-nominated Josh Gad. The series is set in Washington DC and follows "a dysfunctional family that just happens to reside at the most famous address in the United States."
Joining Gad in the cast will be Jenna Elfman as the First Lady, Bill Pullman, who will portray the commander-in-chief, and Brittany Snow (American Dreams), and Amara Miller (The Descendents) who will play the children of the first family. The pilot episode was directed by Jason Winer.
Animal Practice is scripted by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka and tells the story of "a “House”-like veterinarian (Justin Kirk), who loves animals but usually hates their owners (especially the new woman who runs the clinic)." Tyler Labine, Bobby Lee and Amy Huberman also star.
