NIGHTLINE is No. 1 During its First Week in New Time Period

In its first week (January 8-11, 2013) in its new time-slot, "Nightline" ranked No. 1 versus its CBS and NBC competition in Total Viewers and in the key Adult 25-54 demo, topping CBS' "Late Late Show Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.426 million and 649,000, respectively) and NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.584 million and 751,000, respectively), according to Fast National Preliminary Live + Same Day Nielsen data.

"Nightline" improved ABC's performance in the time period on the same nights last year (January 10-13, 2012) by 24% in Total Viewers (1.753 million vs. 1.411 million), by 11% in Adults 25-54 (811,000 vs. 729,000) and by 6% in Adults 18-49 (596,000 vs. 563,000).

During its first week in the new time slot, "Nightline" aired Diane Sawyer's exclusive interview with Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly; had an exclusive interview with the family of Junior Seau, the NFL superstar and family man whose suicide shocked the nation; reported on radical young Americans who say they won't live under America's laws; reported on the big business of college partying and its effect on future careers; had Brian Ross' undercover investigation into one of the biggest investment frauds in American history; and featured interviews with the cast of "Django Unchained" and Cyndi Lauper, among other reports.

On January 11, 2013, ABC's "Nightline" drew 1.720 million Total Viewers, 827,000 Adults 25-54 and 620,000 Adults 18-49. "Nightline" hit its 2nd strongest performance in its new 12:35 a.m. time period in both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

"Nightline" outdelivered "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.407 million, 650,000 and 493,000, respectively) by 313,000 Total Viewers, by 177,000 Adults 25-54 and by 127,000 Adults 18-49.
