Nia Vardalos to Guest Star on LAW & ORDER: SVU

According to TVGuide.com, MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING's Nia Vardalos has officially signed on for a guest spot on LAW & ORDER: SVU.

The Oscar-nominated actress is set to play Counselor Minonna Efron in an upcoming episode, in which she will work alongside D.A. Barba (Broadway's Raul Esparza).

Vardalos is best known for starring in the surprise blockbuster film MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. Her recent TV credits include guest appearances on COUGAR TOWN, DROP DEAD DIVA, MY BOYS, and GREY'S ANATOMY.

In addition, the serial drama has tapped LOST's Harold Perrineau to take on the role of a hardened criminal in another episode slated for Spring 2013 - in the same episode, Marcia Gay Harden will return as FBI agent Dana Lewis.

LAW & ORDER: SVU airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
