THE GOOD WIFE is a drama starring Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Julianna Margulies as a wife and mother who boldly assumes full responsibility for her family and re-enters the workforce after her husband's sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail.

Pushing aside the betrayal and public humiliation caused by her husband, Peter, Alicia Florrick starts over by pursuing her original career as a defense attorney. As a junior associate at a prestigious Chicago law firm, she joins her former law school classmate, Will Gardner, a firm partner with whom she shares long-simmering feelings. The firm's other partner, Diane Lockhart, appreciates Alicia's work - and connections - so she and Will choose to award Alicia a full-time associate position over Cary Agos, who later takes a job in the State's Attorney's office. Alicia balances her professional and personal lives as she strives to provide a stable home for her children.

When Peter's conviction is overturned, he wins a reelection bid with the help of image consultant Eli Gold. But Alicia and Peter's marriage falls apart when she discovers that he had slept with Kalinda, the firm's mysterious in-house investigator who had become Alicia's friend and confidant. Now, separated from her husband once again, Alicia may finally allow herself to give in to her feelings for Will.
