Ana Gasteyer, from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and SUBURGATORY and Brian d'Arcy James from the new hit series SMASH performed to a sold-out crowd last night, May 26, at Bay Street Theatre. Gasteyer and James mingled with the crowd, including actress Blythe Danner, at the post-show VIP soiree. Among the evenings attendees, Board Chairman Frank Filipo, Board Member Jane Holden as well as Hamptonites Bruce Sloan and Sal & Mary Lou Ranieri; and Matt McGrath, a Bay Street Theatre Artistic Associate and the director of the upcoming Mainstage production of Polly Draper in MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE, by Geraldine Aron. James starred on Broadway in NEXT TO NORMAL, TIME STANDS STILL, THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE and CAROUSEL at Lincoln Center, and he was nominated for Tonys for his performances in SHREK THE MUSICAL and SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS.
Gasteyer's Broadway debut was the role of Columbia in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Since then, Gasteyer has played Elphaba in WICKED on Broadway. Other Broadway includes THE ROYAL FAMILY, THE THREEPENNY OPERA with Alan Cumming and Manhattan Theatre Club's KIMBERLY AKIMBO. She also starred as Fanny Brice in FUNNY GIRL at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Ana created some of the most famous "SNL" characters including spot-on impressions of Martha Stewart, Celine Dion and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
