The surgical recovery room is the setting for KENDRA, a provocative new series launching today, November 26 on WIGS (www.youtube.com/wigs), the #1 channel for scripted drama on YouTube. Kendra, played by Sarah Jones (Vegas, Alcatraz), is a nurse who attends to patients post op. She is privy to many of her patients’ most fiercely guarded secrets, one of whom is played by Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter franchise, Awake). Her life in this "twilight room" allows her to view these forbidden truths as her patients regain consciousness and attempt to return to normal life. Are these patients’ lives changed by what they inadvertently confess? Kendra explores how these experiences affect these characters’ view of the truth and its consequences. Written and directed by Jon Avnet (BLACK SWAN, Fried Green Tomatoes), this eight-episode drama also stars Sydney Tamiia Poiter (Death Proof, Veronica Mars) and Leland Orser (Taken, ER).
“I wanted to explore the area of consciousness when the filters are turned off, what the consequences might be and equally important, how someone puts the filters back on, or, if you will, redresses himself or herself,” explained Avnet. “I was also curious about how working in this twilight world would affect a person's view of the world, and their sense of truth and deception.”
“When I saw that people I admired enormously were being given total freedom to make what they want, how they wanted, I banged on the doors till they let me in,” said Isaacs. “Then I started to watch WIGS, and now I'm completely addicted to bite size chunks of quality.”
Kendra is one of many series available on WIGS that features compelling characters played by female actors and explores topical issues such as gays in the military and gay marriage. Viewers who like Kendra should also check out Lauren, a series featuring military story lines and examining sexual assault in the U.S. Army. Starring Troian Bellisario and Jennifer Beals, Lauren can also be found at www.youtube.com/wigs.
