EW reports that ABC has cast Sophie Lowe in the role of 'Alice' for their upcoming Once Upon a Time spin-off series, currently titled 'Once: Wonderland.' The actress will join previously announced cast members Michael Socha, who plays the Knave of Hearts, and Peter Gadiot, who takes on the role of Alice's mysterious love interest, Cyrus.

The cast will present a small 'test' preview which is currently being written by Once creators Edward Kitsis and ADAM HOROWITZ, along with Zack Estrin and Once writer Jane Espenson. The proposed spin-off will take place in 'pre-curse Wonderland', and will begin shooting in Vancouver as soon as the sophomore season of Once wraps production.

Horowitz and Kitsis spoke to EW about the spin off at this year's Paleyfest, commenting, "The idea is not a spin-off in the traditional sense - another five-year, 22-episode series. It's much more in the vein of an American Horror Story, with a beginning, middle, and end."
