As first reported on TVLine.com, actor Stephen Root is set to join the cast of HBO's award-winning drama series BOARDWALK EMPIRE when it returns for Season Three.
Root will play a recurring role as Gaston Means, described as a "forger, swindler and murder suspect who became a Special Investigator for the United States Department of Justice under Attorney General Harry Daugherty."
It was recently announced that Empire's Season 2 cast members Paz de la Huerta, Michael Pitt, Dabney Coleman and Aleksa Palladino would not be returning to the show. In addition, actor Bobby Cannavale will join season three as a rival to the show's 'Nucky'.
Stephen Root has appeared as Frank Lubey in the 1987 Broadway Revival of 'All My Sons'. His other stage credits include the role of King Vaughnum III in the 1986 produciton of 'So Long on Lonely Street'. His TV credits include Pushing Daisies, NewsRadio and Justified.
