On this week's episode of ABC's THE BACHELOR, Sean invited his dates to strip down to their swimsuits and jump into the near-freezing waters of the lake in a spine-chilling polar bear plunge. While Selma outright refused to participate, Tierra did join in but came up "blue" and needed medical attention yet again. Despite the drama, she still managed to show up at the after party. Once again, playing the damsel in distress earned her a rose.
However, Lowe now admits in his blog for People.com that he has doubts as to whether or not Tierra was faking the emergency. "We all took the plunge and almost everyone was glad they did. Except Tierra, of course. She was whisked away by medics, and I honestly thought she was experiencing hypothermia. In hindsight, I'm not so sure... but she played the part well."
The 29-year-old Texan also joked about Tierra on his Twitter page, admitting that he was expecting an "onslaught" when he gave her a rose and even thanked a fan who told him that he had no idea she was different around the other bachelorettes.
Lowe also addressed his decision to send Selma home in his blog, revealing that it was partly because of her refusal to take part in the Polar Bear Plunge. "It didn't bother me that she didn't want to participate," he said. "It bothered me that she didn't even consider it. Later she told me that when she says no, nothing can change her mind. As if that's a good thing! I thought you were supposed to compromise and talk things through in a marriage. That reasoning was a large part of why I didn't give Selma a rose that week."
He added, "I never imagined sending Selma home. After our one-on-one date in Joshua Tree, I thought she might be the one. But in the end, her unwillingness to compromise told me that she probably wasn't the girl for me."
