Deadline reports that Showtime's hit drama series The Borgias will forego a fourth and final season and instead present a two-hour telemovie to conclude its storyline. The show recently aired the 10th episode of its third season run.

In an interview with the British press, series creator Neil Jordan revealed, "I would like to finish it with a two-hour movie. Another ten episodes is kind of exhausting. I've mapped out a movie, which, if (Showtime brass) agree, will shoot in June with the same cast, and finally the Pope will die horribly."

No final decision is expected to be announced until after the third season ends in mid to late June.

About the Series

Oscar winner Jeremy Irons stars in THE BORGIAS, the saga of history's most infamous crime family. Conspiring with his ruthless sons Cesare and Juan and poisonously seductive daughter Lucrezia, the charismatic Rodrigo Borgia will let nothing and no one stand in the way of his relentless quest for wealth and power.

Mercilessly cruel and defiantly decadent, intimidation and murder are his weapons of choice in his scandalous ascension to the papacy in Renaissance-era Italy.
