This morning, NBC's TODAY show gave an exclusive first look at the cover to Dan Brown's latest book, "Inferno." The novel will once again follow the author's fictional hero Robert Langdon, the Harvard symbologist featured in his best-selling works, "The Da Vinci Code" and "The Lost Symbol."
The latest novel is set in Italy and was inspired by Dante's iconic 14th century poem of the same name. The book's cover features a portrait of Dante against the city of Florence, as well as Dante's famous nine rings of hell.
In announcing the book's release, Brown commented, "Although I studied Dante's 'Inferno' as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world. With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm...a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways."
"Inferno" is scheduled to be available on May 14.
