TV One to Launch New Web Series Featuring Online Blogger Franchesca Ramsey

TV One's celebration of Black History Month through the lens of comedy extends on-line with the launch of a new web series, Black History Bowl starring popular blogger, Franchesca Ramsey. Launching February 1, the six-episode series compares some of today's Black celebrities with historical icons in the Black Community and will run throughout the month of February exclusively on tvone.tv.

Black History Bowl will feature Ramsey and her colleague, Mike Brown, portraying famous African American figures from the present and past going toe-to-toe on issues resonating with the Black community. Round One begins with the fictional portrayal of Hip Hop superstar, Nicki Minaj and Broadway icon, Etta Moten Barnett, in a battle to prove their cultural relevance.

"Working with TV One on this project has been a great opportunity to showcase lesser known black historical figures," said Ramsey, "It's rare to see black history presented comically and it is my hope this series entertains viewers as well as encourages them to seek out more information on the figures portrayed."

Ramsey, burst on the scene in 2012 with her viral skit "S*%# White Girls Say to Black Girls" that rocketed her to walking that year's Emmy red carpet and an appearance on Anderson Cooper's Syndicated program. Comedian, hair blogger and all-around funny woman, Franchesca continues to challenge authority and push comedic boundaries with her wit and innovation.
