Singer, songwriter, musician Terry McDermott has released "Pictures," the first single off his forthcoming EP due out later this summer and first since placing second on NBC's "The Voice" last season.

The creation process for "Pictures" was fast as was its rise up the iTunes Rock Singles chart. Less than a week after it was written, much less recorded and mastered, it hit #1. In addition, the official music video for "Pictures" has been viewed over 41,000 times: http://youtu.be/ZLFEOetvbwU. The #1 track will be included the 5-song Pictures EP.

Shortly following his successful run on "The Voice," the New Orleans-based musician flew to Los Angeles to write songs with Todd Burman, a musician with whom he had toured with in the past. On their first day writing together, McDermott and Burman had completed "Pictures" and recorded a rough version. The following day the song was posted to Soundcloud and the response was immediate. Without proper promotion, "Pictures" received 26,000 hits on the first day it was posted.

"Todd was a big supporter while I was on the show, and the first thing I did when it was over was call him," Terry recently shared in an interview with Examiner.com. "We went to his house in Hollywood and sat there with a guitar and solidified everything really quickly. I remember we both had a similar vision of what we wanted the song to be about, but from different angles. I was looking at it more from the point of a lost love or girlfriend, and Todd was looking at it as more of a family member."

Lyndsey Parker of Yahoo Music recently wrote about the new single: "Shaggy Scottish rocker Terry McDermott made his mark on Season 3 of 'The Voice' belting out hairy Camaro classics from the Great American '70s/'80s Rock Songbook (Journey, Boston, Foreigner, et al). But his new original track, 'Pictures,' evokes the mid-2000s Britrock of bands like Travis, Embrace, Starsailor, and of course his own former Geffen group, Driveblind. It's very British, and it's bloody good. Does this mean an album of modern McDermott music is on the way? Let's hope so. A guy with a voice like this needs to get in the studio, and back on my TV, as soon as possible." (2/22/13)
