MTV today announced that rock duo The Black Keys will perform their hit single "Gold On the Ceiling" off their certified RIAA Gold album "El Camino" at the 2012 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. The network also confirmed that global music producer-performer, deejay and MTV Push artist Martin Solveig will be the "2012 MTV Movie Awards" house DJ. Solveig will use his trademark eclecticism to create movie music mash-ups that will literally remix some of film's most iconic theme scores, including Star Wars, Jaws and Pulp Fiction. Hosted by comedian, actor and TV personality Russell Brand, the "2012 MTV Movie Awards" will air live on Sunday, June 3, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
The Black Keys are one of today's most respected and critically acclaimed rock bands. The band has released seven full-length studio albums, with "El Camino" being their first worldwide release with Nonesuch Records. Released on December 6, 2011, the album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and is already certified RIAA Gold. Currently on the second leg of their U.S. tour, The Black Keys headlined the 2012 Coachella music festival and will have the honor once again at this summer's Lollapalooza festival. In the last year, they have appeared twice on "Saturday Night Live," performed on late night television show "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Colbert Report", graced the cover of the January 19, 2012 issue of Rolling Stone as well as a featured story on "CBS Sunday Morning."
"I am both a movie freak and a guy who enjoys mixing music and image to give his videos a cinematographic feel. It's only natural that I jumped at the chance of performing at the 'MTV Movie Awards' when they offered me the opportunity," said Martin Solveig. "MTV's legendary ability to showcase both music and cinema definitely makes the event impossible to miss!"
