Proud to announce Nicole Richie and the legendary George Takei are joining The New Normal family.

George Takei is currently playing Sam Kimura in the Broadway-bound Old Globe run of ALLEGIANCE. Best known for portraying Mr. Sulu in the “Star Trek” series, Takei’s acting career has spanned more than five decades with more than 40 feature films and hundreds of television roles to his credit.

Nicole Richie first gained stardom through the FOX reality TV series The Simple Life alongside Paris Hilton. She went on to become a fashion designer and icon and is now one of the mentors on NBC's Fashion Star. Her other TV credits include appearances on Eve, Six Feet Under, American Dreams, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and Chuck.

In THE NEW NORMAL, these days, families come in all forms - single dads, double moms, sperm donors, egg donors, one-night-stand donors... It's 2012 and anything goes. Bryan (Andrew Rannell s, "Girls," "THE BOOK OF Mormon") and David (Justin Bartha, "The Hangover") are a Los Angeles couple and they have it all. Well, almost. With successful careers and a committed, loving partnership, there is one thing that this couple is missing: a baby. And just when they think the stars will never align, enter Goldie (Georgia King, "One Day"), an extraordinary young woman with a checkered past. A midwestern waitress and single mother looking to escape her dead-end life and small-minded grandmother (Emmy and Tony Award-winner Ellen Barkin), Goldie decides to change everything and move to L.A. with her precocious eight year-old daughter. Desperate and broke - but also fertile - Goldie quickly becomes the guys' surrogate and quite possibly the girl of their dreams. Surrogate mother, surrogate family.

Murphy serves as creator/executive producer and director along with creator/executive producer Ali Adler ("Glee," "Chuck") and executive producer Dante di Loreto ("Glee," "American Horror Story"). "The New Normal" is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ryan Murphy Productions.
