UN-Based Media Organization Launches UNEARTH News

Award-winning MediaGlobal News – an independent news organization based at United Nations Headquarters in New York City – is proud to announce the online launch of UNEARTH News, a new and distinct voice reporting on the human dimensions of climate change, and the prime source of comprehensive coverage on the impact of global climate change on developing countries.

UNEARTH News [www.unearthnews.org], will succinctly communicate tangible solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation in the developing countries to the global media, parliamentarians, environmental companies, and policymakers in the United Nations' member states.

"I would like to congratulate you for launching UNEARTH News on the impact of climate change on developing countries. This is a very important agenda for all of us, if we are looking towards a sustainable future," said Gyan Chandra Acharya, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.

"In UNEARTH News you should highlight what developing countries are doing in terms of dealing with coastal management, forestry, agriculture, ocean management, and renewable energy," Acharya added.

"We are pleased that you are launching UNEARTH News," said Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations. "We need this sort of media to educate human beings for the good of humankind."

In 2011, MediaGlobal was the Winner of the 2011 Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation/United Nations Correspondents Association Award for excellence in journalism for its reporting on the impact of climate change in the world's least developed countries. UNEARTH News will continue this work with deeper focus.
