MTV and Logo’s 60-minute “It Gets Better” special premieres tomorrow night, October 9 at 11:00 P.M. ET/PT on both networks, two days ahead of National Coming Out Day. BroadwayWorld brings you a first look at the trailer below!
Dan Savage, syndicated columnist, author, and co-creator of the It Gets Better Project, anchors the special, sharing the powerful and inspirational stories of Natalie, Hunter and Vecente, three young people growing up LGBT. Natalie was a star in her small town’s conservative high school, but made herself sick with feelings of overwhelming shame and isolation that stemmed from being attracted to other girls. Now a college sophomore, she’s ready to sit her family down and tell them that she's proud to finally be open about who she is, in hopes they will accept her. Hunter, a young man who just graduated high school, is thrilled to move away from home, but is nervous about having to experience the coming out process again and tell his three male roommates he is gay. Vecente, a hip-hop artist, decides he can no longer hide his sexual orientation from his best friend of 19 years and heads to New York to tell him, hoping he will be accepted as an openly gay artist.
