VIDEO: Former LAPD Chief Talks 'Chilling' Threat on CBS THIS MORNING

Related: CBS THIS MORNING, CBS

Former LAPD Chief William Bratton said today that alleged killer Christopher Dorner's manifesto mentioning him by name was "very chilling" and that he was "very surprised that CNN did not move that to the police officials when they received it," in an interview with co-host Norah O'Donnell and CBS Senior Correspondent Anthony Mason that was broadcast live today, Feb. 8, 2013, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM). Check out the appearance below!

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

MASON: How well-equipped is LAPD to deal with something like this?

BRATTON: Well, in this circumstance the LAPD is superbly equipped for this in terms of their investigative capabilities, their resources and the Southern California Police Authority is incredibly well networked with each other. Each department really works very well, seamlessly with each other. So the manhunt that's underway is coordinated, sophisticated, and as you've seen, very comprehensive.

O'DONNELL: Commissioner, we have a picture of you and Christopher Dorner together. Do you remember him?

BRATTON: Don't remember him, but looking at this picture, he was in his military uniform. Chances are this is when he was being deployed into the military, bringing him up to my office, wish them well, bring their families up to introduce them to our military liaison officer and give them a good luck charm, if you will, as they went off.

O'DONNELL: You were mentioned in his manifesto and also CNN was mailed a package in which you were specifically referenced and there was a ceremonial coin with your name and it had three bullet holes in it. This is the picture that we have, courtesy of Anderson Cooper 360. What's your reaction when you see that?

BRATTON: Well, it's very chilling, when you see that, and this is the actual coin. It's a custom that you give as a sign of respect. A good luck charm, particularly for those going overseas, and so when you see that that coin that was given in friendship and respect has three bullet holes, it's certainly very chilling. I was very surprised that CNN did not move that to the police officials when they received it.
