VIDEO: Gov. Chris Christie Visits CBS THIS MORNING

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) discussed his political future and Newark, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker's (D) plans to run in the 2014 Senate in an interview with co-hosts Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell that was broadcast today, Jan. 9, 2013, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM). Below are excerpts from the interview:

ROSE: Can a Republican like you win the Republican presidential nomination? Can you have the views you have and win the nomination?

CHRISTIE: I think that if you have views where you're being effective and you're getting things done for the people, then anybody, not just me, but anybody who does that can win. Here's what I think-I think what's going to happen in the future is that governors, 30 Republican governors out of 50 now, they're going to be the ones who are going to be dictating what the agenda of our party is because we're actually getting things done.

ROSE: You've got a re-election coming up.

CHRISTIE: Yes, sir.

ROSE: Did you scare the Mayor of New Jersey, Cory Booker, out of the race?

CHRISTIE: No.

ROSE: He's looking to the Senate, not to the governor. That's 73% popularity coming out of all of the things following Sandy.

CHRISTIE: Listen. I think Cory made the decision he could best serve the people of this state in New Jersey running for the United States Senate. That was his call and his choice. He's a friend, as you know.

ROSE: Do you agree with him?

CHRISTIE: Do I agree with him? We'll see what the other candidates are at the time, Charlie. Cory has been a friend and we work well over time. I'm glad from this perspective. My daughter follows Cory on Twitter. She says, "You tell Mr. Booker that if he runs against you, I'll un-follow him." So, I'm glad that Sarah doesn't have to un-follow Cory on Twitter.
