VIDEO: Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan Visits CBS THIS MORNING

Grammy Award-winning musician and frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan said rock and roll is no longer a symbol of danger in an interview with co-hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell that was broadcast live today Dec. 10, 2012, on CBS THIS MORNING on the CBS Television Network (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM). Below are excerpts from the interview:

KING: Are you in a good place professionally? You said the music is-

Billy Corgan: I think so.

KING: Yeah.

CORGAN: Yeah, I think so. I think it's a very, very difficult environment. First of all, everybody understands that the economy is not so good. So that's a tough thing anyway, when you're asking people to put money that they don't necessarily have on the barrelhead. But, beyond that, I think we're seeing sort of-rock and roll has aged to the point now where it's no longer the dangerous thing it once was. You hear it in commercials-I see 6-year-old girls with punk rock hair. Those images and that symbology is not as dangerous as it once was, so to continue to be a dangerous artist in an environment that no longer sees what you do as dangerous is very difficult.
