Meet Gumdrop. A 27 year-old, 5’ 6’’ Bulgarian actress who loves to do “the Charleston,” has a gift for vacuuming, is freaked out by drugs and has starred in films with Charlie Chaplin and Fred Astaire. Oh, and she’s a robot.
Gumdrop, star of the latest short film (of the same name) premiering today, November 19, on WIGS (www.youtube.com/wigs), the #1 channel for scripted drama on YouTube, provides viewers with a quirky look inside a casting room. Via state-of-the-art CGI technology created by Concept Designer Iain McCaig (The Avengers; Star Warstrilogy) and Art Director Venti Hristova (The Avengers; Iron Man 2), the lovable Gumdrop, voiced by Venti Hristova, auditions for a part and details her history as a robot actress including her role in classic films like The Gold Rush, into which she was inserted.
Gumdrop was written and directed by Kerry Conran (writer/director of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) and co-directed by Stephen Lawes (Creative Director of Red; Real Steel).
