Last year there was a ton of talk about which GLEE characters would be 'graduating' from the show. After lots of backpeddling on Ryan Murphy's part, fans found out that most of the actors will be back, and now the Hollywood Reporter has details on what's in store for their charcters now that they've left McKinley High.

Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) whose characters end up in Chicago and Los Angeles respectively, return to the series in episode five, when they will 'lend Artie a hand with a mysterious situation.'

On some of the other charcaters Chord Overstreet (Sam) told THR: "Sam feels like he has the obligation to mentor the new kids and bring in some new people because so many people graduated and are coming in and out." Kevin McHale (Artie) shared: "He's enjoying that leadership role and the trust everybody has in his vision."

Golden Globe Award winner and Academy Award nominee Hudson joins the new season of GLEE in a six-episode arc. Her character is described as a "hard-ass New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts dance instructor" who is pitted against new student Rachel, played by Lea Michele.

GLEE is a musical comedy about a group of ambitious and talented kids who escape the harsh realities of high school by joining a glee club where they find strength, acceptance and ultimately their voice. This year, the senior class is riding high from their Nationals win and enjoying a bit of popularity, while the graduating class leaves the comforts of McKinley for the cruel streets of New York as they open a new chapter and continue chasing their dreams.

GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan and Dante di Loreto serve as executive producers.

GLEE will return for its season four premiere, titled "The New Rachel", on September 13th.
