The Pit Stop Players, a fourteen-member instrumental ensemble composed of veteran Broadway pit musicians, will present an unusual concert entitled 'Date Night,' featuring group members and their spouses performing together. The event will take place Monday, March 24, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street.

The Farm Theater (Padraic Lillis, Artistic Director) will launch its innovative programming Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street, New York City). The event will present Brian Luna's award-winning solo show 7th and 11th Dimensions followed by the announcement of the company's College Collaboration project.

This week on DOWNTON ABBEY we finally see the house returned (nearly) to its former glory as Lord and Lady Grantham play host and hostess to some of their upper-class friends for a party. But a festive event takes a dark turn by episode's end!

It was an exciting, interesting and surprising season in the Philadelphia/ South Jersey theater world. Here are some of my favorites picks with one additional New York entry worth remembering.

Tectonic Theater Project is proud to announce The Laramie Project: Reflections. Reflections is an online forum to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death. On the 11th anniversary, Tectonic honored Matthew by premiering The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later with simultaneous readings of the new play in all 50 states and eight different countries. Four years after that momentous night, Tectonic has once again decided to implement a community-based, multi-media art project to remember Matthew.

The performances are at 3 pm and 8 pm on Saturday, October 19, and at 2 pm on Sunday, October 20. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if I liked Frederick Ashton's Sylvia at the Metropolitan Opera House on Wednesday evening, June 26, or not. It had lots of things in its favor, but where was the spark? What's special about this ballet, and how did it get from Paris 1876 to New York City 2013? Is there something that eludes me? I decided to do a little excavating on my own.
