TVGuide reports that Jessica Simpson is set to portray a 'version of herself' in a comedy currently being developed at NBC. The project is being described as a "Curb Your Enthusiasm-style look at her life." According to the report, producers will film a "presentation", which is not quite a pilot but contains enough footage to be considered for next season's programming line-up for the network. 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop' writer Nick Bakay will pen the pilot which is based on an idea he developed with wife Robin. The show will come from Ben Silverman and Joe Simpson. Simpson previously starred as herself in the MTV reality series 'Newleyweds: Nick and Jessica.' From there, a potential sitcom at ABC in 2004 faultered and led the star to focus on her growing financial empire instead, which includes a clothing line and endorsement deals. The pop star currently serves as a mentor on NBC's Fashion Star, which returns for its second season on March 8. Simpson recently announced that she is pregnant with her second child, a condition which will apparently be worked into the show. The first episode is expected to film sometime around the birth of her child. |
