SPOILER ALERT!! American fans of the hit UK series Downton Abbey may want to skip over The Following casting news for the fourth season of the PBS series.
According to ONTD.com, Lady Mary Crawley will reportedly have a new boyfriend in the upcoming season of the historic drama. As previously reported, her husband Matthew, played by Dan Stevens, has a fatal car accident in the special Christmas episode of the show. The popular actor had reportely requested to be witten out of the show. As a result, the show is currently casting a "handsome thirtysomething actor" to portray her new suitor, Lord Anthony Gillingham.
In a recent interview with TVLine the series EP Gareth Neame commented that Steven's exit created a "dramatic opportunity" for a propoer gentleman beau for Mary, adding, "In any relationship drama, the will-they-or-won't-they is always more interesting than married couples. So actually what we've been able to do is reset [Lady Mary]. She has to start again, and that will be much more interesting."
Casting rumors including Orland Bloom to Henry Cavill have been circulating, however stars of their magnitude would most likely demand to high a paycheck to do the show. So let the guessing game begin - which British hunk do you see taking over the role?
