Deadline reports that Allison Janney has signed on to star in MOM, Chuck Lorre's upcoming comedy pilot for CBS. The actress will join previously announced cast member Anna Farris.
Lorre co-penned the pilot along with Two And A Half Men's executive producer Eddie Gorodetsky and story editor GEmma Baker. The project will follow, "Christy (Faris), a newly sober single mom who tries to pull her life together in Napa Valley. Janney will play her mom Bonnie, who is the source of a lot of Christy's previous problems, most likely because she wasn't the best mother."
Janney is best known for her role as C.J. Cregg on the television series The West Wing (1999-2006), for which she won four Primetime Emmy Awards, a Satellite Award and four Screen Actors Guild Awards and was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, an AFI Award and a further two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Satellite Award and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards. Her films include Big Night (1996), Primary Colors (1998), Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), American Beauty (1999), The Hours (2003), Hairspray (2007), Juno (2007) and The Help (2011).
