Hayden Panettiere Sings FAME On NASHVILLE This Week

"Baby, look at me / Tell me what you see," sings Panettiere over the tense strum of her guitar strings in this stripped-down new take on the earworm tune. "Don't you know who I am?" Well, to answer her question, in the universe of NASHVILLE, the whole world does - Juliette Barnes is a Carrie Underwood-like country superstar of the highest order. She is so big, in fact, that currently-reigning diva country queen surpeme, Rayna James (played wonderfully by Connie Britton), has even joined her on a dual-tour as a means to boost both of their careers in the post-download age neccessitating touring above all other means of making a mark (monetary, particularly). What ensues is a big ole pile of drama, fightin', lovin' - and a whole lotta singin', too. More than nearly any other series on TV today, NASHVILLE illustrates the high price of fame and what it really costs to those lucky few who achieve it, so this eternal anthem originally made famous by Irene Cara and written by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford (who would go on to write the infamous CARRIE musical one day) certainly fits right in to the themes of the consistently enjoyable and reliably performance-packed musical series created by Callie Khouri (of THELMA & LOUISE fame). "Remember my name." We will - as hard as it may be to spell, in Ms. Panettiere's case. After all, it has proven to be a name well worth remembering with musical moments this impressive now on her resume. NASHVILLE airs Wednesdays at 10 PM on ABC. ABC nighttime musical soap NASHVILLE has featured a slew of boot-slappin', high-kickin' country stunners so far this season - most of them original songs, actually - but Hayden Panettiere has outdone even her own series highlights with a striking, brand new music video promo released from this week's episode, highlighting a mind-blowing new take on the classic movie musical anthem "Fame" from the iconic 1980 Alan Parker movie musical of the same name.
