Diane Farr, best known for her full-time gigs on the hit shows NUMB3RS and RESCUE ME, has officially joined the final season of PRIVATE PRACTICE in a recurring role.

Her arc will stretch over several episodes - including the series finale early next year - but her debut is set for Dec. 11. Farr will reportedly play a woman named Miranda, though no other details on her profession or relationship with other characters have been announced at this time. Though nothing has officially been laid out on Farr's character, there's speculation that Miranda might serve as the "happily ever after" for series favorite, Dr. ShelDon Wallace (who will be the focus of the Dec. 11 episode.)

Farr has continued to land guest roles on many television shows since NUMB3RS concluded, including Shonda Rhimes' initial breakthough drama, GREY'S ANATOMY, as well as DESPERATE HOSUEWIVES, CALIFORNICATION, and THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER.

ABC's PRIVATE PRACTICE is set to conclude its six-season run in early 2013.
