Lauren Ambrose to Join John Barrowman in 'Torchwood'

Lauren Ambrose, who most recently appeared on Broadway in 2009's Exit the King opposite Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon and is well-known for her role on HBO's Six Feet Under, will join the cast of Torchwood: Miracle Day, ew.com reports.

Torchwood: Miracle Day will explore the question of what happens when no one dies - of the miraculous nature of such an occurrence as well as its repercussions. The show will premiere internationally on July 1st, is a continuation of the British sci-fi show Torchwood which is in turn a spin-off of Doctor Who. It will air in the US on the STARZ channel.

Ambrose will play Jilly Kitzinger. She will join the previously announced John Barrowman as the immortal Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper.

Myles is best known for her role as Ceri Owen in BBC Wales's Belonging, as well as previously portraying Eve Myles in Torchwood. She has also appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company in several stage productions, such as The Taming of the Shrew and Titus Andronicus.

Barrowman's prolific career has included television roles on Doctor Who and Desperate Housewives, starring stage roles in the West End casts of The Fix and La Cage Aux Folles, and a myriad of other television appearances and films.
