It was a point of pride to interview celebrated local playwright, Christopher Demos-Brown, about his play, American Son, which opened on Broadway last November and starred Kerry Washington. South Florida's theater community celebrated one of our own as the play had a wildly successful run on Broadway. American Son will have its Florida premiere at the Arsht Center as a co-presentation with Zoetic Stage of which Demos-Brown is Zoetic Stage's founding artistic director.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents the critically-acclaimed Broadway hit, American Son by Christopher Demos-Brown. Called 'Provocative' by The New York Times and 'Compelling' by the Hollywood Reporter, American Son is a powerful drama that tackles themes of family relationships, love, loss, and identity. Town Hall Theatre is excited to announce our new staged reading series IN THE WINGS. IN THE WINGS launches with a one-night only reading of PLACEBO, a smart, new offbeat serio-comedy by Melissa James Gibson. A special screening of the documentary, 'The Search for the Last Supper,' about the restoration of a rare oil to canvas painting of the world famous portrait, will take place on Wednesday, March 14th at 6:30pm at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture - 18 Bleecker Street, NYC (www.SheenCenter.org) it was announced today by Executive Director William Spencer Reilly.   Following the screening, there will be a talkback with documentary filmmakers and art historians Prof. Jean-Pierre Isbouts and Dr. Christopher Brown and a reception sponsored by The General Delegation of the Government of Flanders to the USA.

'Take a Shot' with Buck Creek Players as we wrap up our 42nd season of quality theater with The Playhouse Players Youth Production of BUGSY MALONE JR. Opening on Friday, July 29th, and continuing for two weekends through August 7th, curtain times are at 8PM on Friday and Saturday, with 2:30PM matinees on Sunday. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue. A biennial fundraiser for The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund, admission is $18 for everyone, with $3 from every ticket automatically donated to the scholarship fund. Following a critically hailed, highly successful extended run of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Rubicon Theatre Company continues the 2015-2016 Season with another American premiere -- eXtras  by Sabina Berman. Loosely adapted from Marie Jones' Olivier Award-winning comedy Stones in His Pockets, eXtras is the hilarious story of what happens when a Hollywood film company descends upon a small California/Mexico border town to shoot a major motion picture, wreaking havoc on the fragile ecosystem of the community.  eXtras will open on Saturday, April 16 at 7pm and run through Sunday, May 1 at the Rubicon Theatre, 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura.
